On My Drawing Table

Last year I did a tiny little watercolor and ink on a small square of wood.

I loved how this came out.

I started a larger one last week and there needs to be a series of these little butterflies.

The first layer of watercolor and white ink.
I then framed it in vintage dictionary pages.

All gets covered with a layer of beeswax and a gentle sprinkling of mica flakes. The pictures really aren't capturing the lovely sheen that the beeswax adds to it.

This one is currently listed in my Etsy Shop.

Art Prints and Springtime

This snowy cold winter is loathe to leave us here in the northeast. We awake to snow or frost on many days that should be warming the soil.
I haven't given up on spring, it's on the way, it has just been slowly awakening.
This little man had a wonderful time searching for eggs this Easter. With the
spring comes his birthday, three already!
Many train rides to NYC for not so great reasons....but the marsh views are beginning to
perk up.
Most days I have been in production mode, there are quite a few steps to producing these art blocks. It's important to have the wood cut cleanly and straight and my husband does a wonderful job of this with his big table saw.
Sanding the edges and then covering with vintage paper is accomplished with the help of a very sweet dear friend.
I print on a Epson Artisan printer on a lovely satiny finished paper, then mount it on the wood block.
This batch of 5x5 Art Prints on Wood are heading to
Arts Mid-Hudson's Dutchess Handmade Pop-up Shop
Starting April 27th until May 19th.
They are located at 696 Dutchess Turnpike, Suite E
Poughkeepsie, NY 12603
Hope to see you there!

Two Nor'easters in a week!

With another one on the way....
Spring has been elusive for us here in the northeast this year.
We were able to enjoy an early spring outing one day and...
gazing out to this the next!
Rocky, even though he's an older guy, still loves to run in the snow.

I was able to spend the time in manufacturing mode.
My magnet sets feature my artwork and make a lovely whimsical
addition wherever they are used.
They are available in my Etsy Store.

Spring is on the Way!

It has been a looooong winter! Generally wintertime has a snuggly peacefulness that I enjoy, but this year it has me itching for spring!
We've had some celebrating, actually February and January seem to have quite a few birthdays to celebrate. This one here is my lovely daughter-in-law celebrating a milestone, with a huge helper!

We went outside this week before the nor'easter hit looking for spring, we found some moss that had been buried under the snow.
The walking trails are clear but just a little muddy, the melting snow has filled the streams.
Of course a rock-skipping demonstration was in order.
Just being able to spend a day outside was rejuvenating.
And the snowdrops were not only peeking out but were standing tall!

A Trip to the Zoo

We decided that even though it was a cold cloudy day this little man needed fresh air.

A trip to the Trevor Zoo at the Millbrook School was a great choice. The llamas were gorgeous, here is the black one there is also a white one.

The red wolf was very curious and came close.

This is the longest time these two stood still, they were fascinated with the wild turkeys!

It's a sweet little zoo with many interesting animals to see up close. Another trip is in order!

Happy New Year!

Wishing all of you a very Happy, Healthy, Peaceful and Prosperous New Year!

It was a quiet celebration today with family, our grandson came over early to play and I made dinner.

Kitchen helper, lol!

I had my boys, my daughter-in-law, my grandson and husband all around me and it was heaven!

This week it will be clean-up time.

A beautiful super-moon appeared and it was a crisp clear night for viewing, we got a few amazing shots.

All the best to you this year!

Out and About.....

I found this growing in my son's front yard under the pine trees. From a distance I thought that is was a pumpkin growing, it's hard to tell from this picture but it stands about 8" high and it was about 5" in diameter. Anyone know what kind of mushroom it is?
Pop and the little man had a great time on this swing, such a sweet idea!
My sister and her husband have two goats, two pigs and two dogs so far...they are really filling up their little farm. She wants to learn how to make soap, I can't wait to test it out!
