On My Drawing Table

This time of year is somewhat a quiet time and I get to spend a lot of time at my drawing table. Working on new series for the coming year and just messing around with new techniques.

Blue Moon is my latest series, each full moon of the year has a name given to it mostly by Indian Tribes who lived their lives closer to the demands of the seasons then we do now.
The challenge I am giving myself is to work solely monochromatic in blue watercolors.

January's full moon is known as the Wolf Moon.

February's full moon is the Snow Moon.

February Desktop Download

My gift to you lovely followers, is a desktop calendar for February.
Just click on the image above to download.
This is for your own personal use.

February's full moon is known as the 'Snow Moon' to many
North American Indian tribes. The snow is high in this month and
it made hunting difficult for them, so it is also known
as 'The Full Hunger Moon'.

Along with the moon lore, this month also contains
Valentine's Day a day to celebrate with your loves.
And eat chocolate!

This year we can include Leap Year as another celebration,
dating back four centuries or more, legend says that
any lady may propose to any man on leap day. If he choses
to decline, he owes her a silk gown and a kiss, provided that
she is wearing a red petticoat at the time!

Enjoy your calendar and your month!

Cyber Monday Listings

I should have posted these last night to be ready for early morning shoppers, but yard work was screaming out to me and my husband yesterday. I had purchased some bushes that really needed to be planted and I was busy digging twelve holes (yes twelve)! My knees were killing me last night. We also need to get the leaves up from the front yard at least so the house dosen't look so awful. I think that we have the most leaves in the whole neighborhood!
Anyway these sweet birdies can be yours on esty today.
I have made them out of painted muslin with fabric wrapped wire legs.

New Collaged Painting on ETSY

I just listed this painting on ETSY tonight.

And I must admit to liking the way the bird in this one came out the best. The colors on the bird did just what I wanted them to and the momopoly money leaves came out just right! I have been busy getting a Zazzle Shop up and running this week, so keep checking back, I will have a link posted very soon.
Have a good week!

New Year New Projects

Hello and Happy Belated New Year! I hope to be posting here more often this year. I was busy during the fall and into the holidays with a few craft fairs and some local stores that I have items in. But what I want to challenge my self with this year is a painting a day. I want to be able to commit to that daily process, document it and hope to see a growth in my abilities. So today I am listing the painting that I did yesterday on etsy. I will probably focus on birds since I just love painting them.
This watercolor and pen and ink painting is done on a page from a vintage ledger book. I am not sure what the paper is made from, but it is lovely paper to work on. I titled it "Snowy Day Bird" since here in the north east we are getting pummeled again!
