Two Nor'easters in a week!

With another one on the way....
Spring has been elusive for us here in the northeast this year.
We were able to enjoy an early spring outing one day and...
gazing out to this the next!
Rocky, even though he's an older guy, still loves to run in the snow.
Ugh!

I was able to spend the time in manufacturing mode.
My magnet sets feature my artwork and make a lovely whimsical
addition wherever they are used.
They are available in my Etsy Store.

On My Drawing Table

This time of year is somewhat a quiet time and I get to spend a lot of time at my drawing table. Working on new series for the coming year and just messing around with new techniques.

Blue Moon is my latest series, each full moon of the year has a name given to it mostly by Indian Tribes who lived their lives closer to the demands of the seasons then we do now.
The challenge I am giving myself is to work solely monochromatic in blue watercolors.

January's full moon is known as the Wolf Moon.

February's full moon is the Snow Moon.

On My Drawing Table

Another snowy day here in the northeast, the heaviest snowfall so far this season.

That tiny figure is my husband trying to keep the end of the driveway cleared.
It was a continuous job all day long.

Rocky was in his usual spot.

I spent the afternoon doodling at my drawing table....

And working on new art.

Busy Times....

This is my good boy Rocky who at this moment in time is very upset because.....
this spoiled kitty Thomas is on my lap. Every night it is the same thing. Rocky upset that Thomas is on my lap. I wish that I could get Rocky's whining on video, but he stops as soon as I pick up the phone to record. I think that he is camera shy!
Two turkeys are needed for the crowd that comes for Thanksgiving every year and these two are expert carvers!
My poor husband was raking leaves on Tuesday and shoveling snow on Wednesday.
The Northern Virginia Christmas Market was fun and I met some fantastic people.
A few more small shows and then a nice quiet January.

And Yet Another Snowy Day!

Here we go again.....

The visibility really is this bad.

I always do a wonderful business at the bird feeder during a storm. The birds
use up so much energy during this kind of weather so I went out last
night to restock before the snow came in.

Rocky is a 90 pound Chocolate Lab and he is having so much trouble
moving around in this snow.

Thank you for getting me back in mommy! I don't like it out there.

My dear husband is overwhelmed with the snow, he is running
out of room to put it! (and for health reasons the doctor said
no snow shoveling for me, so he is on his own ...)

But the cavalry showed up.....
 Thank you neighbor Ted!

On another subject, I had a 50% off coupon for Michaels and treated
myself to yet another glass dome. I'm thinking spring display, maybe
a small nest with eggs....spring can't be too far away, I hope!

Snow Day Here in the Northeast!

Last week all our snow from earlier in the season had pretty much all melted away,
but today is a different story....

My husband is running out of places to pile the snow....

Even Rocky is upset with the amount of snow out there in the back yard.

The birds are not minding it too much as long as I keep the feeders filled.
They do show up a lot on a snowy day.

I am inside working on a new doll to list on EBAY.

This one will have a linen dress and something to do with this pretty
pink polka dot fabric. Bunny ears will be in store for this one also.

Little Hannah, Queen of Hearts is listed here on EBAY:

(I hope this link works :)  )

Thank you for spending a few moments with me and have a nice day!

My little garden bunny peeking out from a snowy blanket!
I love how the flower landed just right between the ears.
The birds were vying for this prime spot during the storm.

It is now Wednesday after the big storm and the snow is almost all gone. Thank goodness, now maybe I will be able to get my lilac bushes planted this weekend.
I have been busy getting ready for the craft fairs that I have coming up I will put some pictures up soon.

Merry Halloween!!

Looking out my studio windows toward the road.

Still smiling our halloween smiles!

My mother would hang this black cat on our front door on halloween night.

Here in the Hudson River Valley most of us are tucked in and waiting out this historic storm.
We are ready with our generator if the lights go out and hopefully we will
be able to hook up the tv and watch Hocus Pocus! (My favorite Halloween movie!)
Of course the party is postponed till next weekend, but more poeple will be around so that is good!
(especially our son who will be up for a visit from DC :))

Snowy Halloween!

The weatherman is saying four to six inches on saturday....oh brother!
Here in the Hudson Valley we had an October snowstorm about fifteen years ago
that caused problems for weeks. The trees are still leafed out and when they
get filled with snow they get heavy and break and bring down power lines.
I am doubtful that I will be able to have my annual Halloweeen Party on saturday :(

A Painting a Day #2 Snowy Bird

A sweet little gray bird watching the snow fall. I wanted a soft subdued palette of colors and I think this does it nicely. This will be listed on etsy later tonight.

New Year New Projects

Hello and Happy Belated New Year! I hope to be posting here more often this year. I was busy during the fall and into the holidays with a few craft fairs and some local stores that I have items in. But what I want to challenge my self with this year is a painting a day. I want to be able to commit to that daily process, document it and hope to see a growth in my abilities. So today I am listing the painting that I did yesterday on etsy. I will probably focus on birds since I just love painting them.
This watercolor and pen and ink painting is done on a page from a vintage ledger book. I am not sure what the paper is made from, but it is lovely paper to work on. I titled it "Snowy Day Bird" since here in the north east we are getting pummeled again!
